As a professional counselor I’m often asked for a referral to a “good counselor”. The request sounds easy enough, but is harder than it first appears. I consider referral a serious matter. Families place trust in a clinician because I recommended them. People come to helping professionals at a vulnerable time in their life when they are needing guidance. That’s why I only make referral to professionals I have personal experience with or at least enough familiarity with that I feel comfortable the service you receive from them will be helpful.
In this article I have collected contact information on clinicians in the Springfield area that I routinely make referrals to. The list isn’t intended to be exhaustive of all qualified professionals. Only those I know personally or am familiar enough with that I feel comfortable. If you have personal experience with any of these clinicians, or a good experience with others not listed here, I’d love to hear about it in the comments. Thanks in advance.
It comes as no surprise that the clinicians I know the best and trust the most are my colleagues at The Relationship Center. Our dynamic multi-specialty team is well suited to help most individuals, couples, and families with their out-patient psychotherapy (counseling) needs.
When I need to refer outside of The Relationship Center, here’s who I use.
